To begin with, I've found many ways to make the slatted signatures

this is my way! :O)

Firstly finding a great font helps , if your not a good Artist :O)

For this tutorial I used SC BY THE SEA Font, for the Shell Shape

( a great seaside dingbat font )

and the FONT can be downloaded from HERE

and the Hula Girl Tube can be got HERE

once downloaded and placed in your fonts we are ready to begin :O)

==================================================================================

open a new image 600X400 transparent -

a nice big workplace to do this one!

Using your A-Tool and any colour/fillers use the letter A - Text size 72

Now go to SELECTIONS>> INVERT -

then.......SELECTIONS>>INVERT again and then press DELETE key

this should now leave you with an empty SHELL, with marching ants around it

now using either the  HULA GIRL picture here...

or one of your own...

highlight the picture and then  copy - CTRL C - then highlight the Slat image

and on the top bar of the image like so....

right click and then...PASTE INTO SELECTION

Sometimes you will find that the Picture doesn't fit the whole of the Slat

I've found in this case its easier to flood fill the Slat first with a any Colour that will go with your picture , ....then copy & paste the Picture into the slat

then Deselect - CTRL D

depending on taste -

you can either add a inner bevel and drop shadow

inner bevel setting :O)

Dropped Shadow Settings :O)

Add a new raster layer

Add your Name in your style,, then

LAYERS>>MERGE>>MERGE VISIBLE

save as.........  that's it all done :O)

Alternatively you can Add a new layer before the Adding name process

and paste in the picture only to give a different effect like so...

then add the name and then Layers>> merge>>merge visible

and SAVE AS...
